The on-loan ENPPI man enjoyed an impressive debut in Saturday's Premier League opener, even though Sunderland gave away a two-goal lead to draw with Birmingham.

"Steve Bruce is one of the main reasons I came here," Elmohamady told Sunderland's official website.

"He is an excellent manager who takes care of the players and always tries to do good things with them.

"I want to show him my efforts on the field and repay him too."

After swiftly becoming a fans favorite at the Stadium of Light, the Egypt wing-back also paid tribute to the Black Cats' supporters.

"The fans were great. I have never played in such an atmosphere before. I want to give my best to make all the fans even happier," he added.

"I have been made to feel very appreciated. People have been taking care of me and I want to repay them on the field."

Sunderland's next Premier League challenge will be against newcomers West Brom on Saturday.
